Admission Guidelines
1. Merit-Based Admission: Admission to various classes will be strictly based on merit.
2. First-Time Admission: For candidates taking admission in the college for the first time, it is mandatory to upload a conduct certificate from their previous institution along with the admission form.
3. Students from Unrecognized Institutions: Students from unrecognized institutions, purely private schools/colleges, or those educated through home-schooling must upload an original conduct certificate from a gazetted officer with the admission form.
Girls: Girls can also upload a conduct certificate issued by the village head (Sarpanch).
4. Reserved Category Admission: To claim a seat under any reserved category, it is mandatory to upload a certificate verified by a competent authority along with the admission form.
Original certificates must be presented at the time of admission.
5. Incomplete Forms: Admission forms that are incomplete will be rejected.
6. Required Documents: It is mandatory to upload attested copies of required documents along with the admission form.
7. False Information: Candidates themselves will be responsible for any incorrect information provided in the admission form, and the Principal has the right to cancel their admission.
8. Subject/Group Selection: Students must choose only those subjects/groups that are approved in the college prospectus or for which seats are available.
9. Punjab University Results: If the result of a class is not declared by Punjab University by the specified date, students will be admitted within 10 working days after the result is declared.
This concession will not apply to students from external universities/boards.
10. Fee/Fund Submission: Upon admission, students must deposit the applicable fees/funds within 24 hours. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of their admission, and the next candidate on the merit list will be admitted.
11. Subject Start: If there are fewer than 10 students in any subject, that subject will not be started.
Subject Change
If a student wishes to change their subject, they can do so within one month from the date of admission. Approval from the relevant subject teachers and the principal is necessary for this. In case of a subject change, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure they are not withdrawn from the old subject.
Withdrawal and Re-Admission
If a student does not pay the college fees and dues by the specified date or remains absent for six consecutive working days without leave, their name will be removed from the college. Such students can be re-admitted within 10 days by paying the fees and a penalty, with the principal’s permission.
Leaving the College
A student who wishes to leave the college must submit a written request to the principal. The application must be signed by the student and their parent/guardian. At the time of leaving, the student must clear any outstanding fees and fines.
Internal Assessment
- Undergraduate Classes: According to Punjab University guidelines, 10% internal assessment per subject is determined for BA, B.Sc., and B.Com. students in semesters 1 to 6 as follows:
-
- Class Tests: 5%
- Assignments/Seminars/Project Work: 3%
- Attendance: 2%
- Students with 85% or more attendance will be awarded 2% marks.
- Students with 75% to less than 85% attendance will be awarded 1% marks.
- Students with less than 75% attendance will be awarded 0% marks and will be ineligible to sit for the semester exams.
- Postgraduate Classes (MA): For MA exams, a 2.0% (per paper per semester) internal assessment is determined as follows, which will be converted from 100 marks to 20%:
- Three Tests (best two considered): 25-50 marks
- Snap Tests: 15 marks
- Class Participation: 10 marks
- Term Papers: 15 marks
- Attendance: 10 marks
- 5 marks for 75% to 85% attendance
- 10 marks for more than 85% attendance
Attendance
- Mandatory Attendance: Students must attend classes every working day. If a student is absent for 7 consecutive days in any period without approved leave, their name will be removed from the college roll. The student can request re-admission by explaining their absence to the principal and, if approved, must pay the specified re-admission fee.
- Minimum Attendance Requirement: Students are required to attend at least 75% of the total lectures, including tutorials, seminars, and practicals.
- Lecture Shortage: In cases of lecture shortage, lectures will only be considered if the student has obtained prior approval for their duty from the principal and has recorded it properly in the diary/dispatch register. These lectures will only be counted if the related lecturer delivered them during the duty leave period. No lectures or duty leave will be granted for any competition organized by non-government or unrecognized institutions.
- Notification of Lecture Shortage: Parents often complain about not being informed of lecture shortages. For parents’ and guardians’ information, such notifications will only be posted on the student notice board. No such notification will be sent by mail. It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to obtain information regarding internal exams/attendance from the college.
