Admission Guidelines

NOTE:

Students migrating from other universities must submit their original migration certificate and original certificates of the previous class at the time of admission.

Eligibility for Admission to B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Part I:

Candidates with compartment in the +2 examination from any Board/Body/Council/University will be eligible for admission provided:

1. For B.A. Part I: The candidate must have secured at least 20% marks (combined theory and practical) in the compartment subject and at least 33% marks in aggregate (combined theory and practical) in all subjects.

2. For B.Sc. Part I: The candidate must have secured at least 20% marks (combined theory and practical) in the compartment subject and at least 40% marks in aggregate (combined theory and practical) in all subjects.

3. For B.Com. Part I: The candidate must have secured the following marks including the compartment subject:

a. With +2 Commerce Group: At least 40% marks in aggregate.

b. With +2 in any group other than Commerce: At least one of the following subjects with the required marks:
– Commerce
– Accountancy
– Economics
– Business Organization and Management
– Book Keeping and Accountancy

The eligibility for candidates with non-Commerce +2 background is as follows:
– Three of the above subjects passed: At least 45% marks in aggregate.
– Two of the above subjects passed: At least 50% marks in aggregate.
– One of the above subjects passed: At least 55% marks in aggregate.

c. With +2 in any group including Humanities (other than Commerce): At least 60% marks in aggregate.

The candidates securing less than 20% marks in the subject of compartment at the +2 examination be made eligible to join B.A./B.Sc./BCom. Part-I courses, if they clear or secure 20% or more marks in the subject in the Supplementary Examination held in July/August, on or before the last date for admission with late fee with the permission of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, provided the seat(s) is/are available

Regulations for B.B.A./B.B.A. (Honours) (Semester System) under NEP–2020 academic session 2024-25

1.1 The duration of B.B.A./B.B.A (Honours) shall be of four years (eight semesters). A student can exit at the end of 3rdyear (six semesters) and shall be awarded B.B.A. degree. A student can also exit at the end of 2ndyear (four semesters) shall be awarded UG Diploma (Business Administration). A student can also exit at the end of 1styear (two semesters) and shall be awarded UG Certificate (Business Administration). For obtaining UG Certificate (Business Administration)/UG Diploma (Business Administration)/BBA/BBA Honours/BBA Honours with Research Degree, a student shall qualify the number of credits as per these Regulations and Scheme framed in accordance with these Regulation

Admission to the first semester of BBA (Hons.) Degree course shall be open to a person who has passed one of the following
examinations conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University:

(i) +2 examination securing at least 50% marks in aggregate.

(ii) Any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent to (a) as given above with requisite percentage of marks.

Regulations for B.sc (Data Analytics) (Semester System) under NEP–2020 academic session 2024-25

The duration of B.sc (Data Analytics) shall be of four years (eight semesters). Admission to the first semester of B.sc(Data Analytics) Degree course shall be open to a person who has passed one of the following examinations conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University:

(i) +2 examination securing at least 50% marks in aggregate.

Note :For this course student must studied Science/Commerce/ Economic/ Mathematics/Computer Science at +2 level.

Regulations for BCom./BCom. (Honours) Four Years (Eight Semesters) Undergraduate Programme (Under NEP-2020)

1.1 The duration of B.Com Honours shall be of Four years (eight semesters). A student can exit at the end of 3 years (six semesters) and shall be awarded B.Com degree. A student can also exit at the end of 2 years (four semesters) shall be awarded UG Diploma (Commerce). A student can also exit at the end of 1 year (two semesters) and shall be awarded UG Certificate (Commerce). For obtaining UG Certificate (Commerce)/UG Diploma (Commerce)/ B.Com., B.Com. Honours, B.Com. Honours with Research Degree, a student shall qualify the number of credits as per these Regulations and Scheme framed in accordance with these Regulations.

 1 (A) Admission to the first semester of B.Com. Degree course shall be open to a person who has passed one of the following examinations conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University: –

(a) +2 examination with three of the following subjects securing at least 45 per cent marks in the aggregate: –
1. Commerce 2. Accountancy 3. Economics 4. Business Organization 5. Insurance 6. Banking and Trade 7. Commercial Geography 8. Office Management and Secretarial Practice 9. Mercantile Law 10.Auditing 11. Typewriting and Stenography/Computers and Additional subjects as per Admission guidelines of Panjab university Chandigarh.

(b) +2 examination with at least two of the subjects mentioned in (a) securing at least 50% marks in aggregate.

(c) +2 examination who does not covered in (a) and (b) securing at least 55% marks.

(d) Any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent to (a) or (b) or (c) as given above with requisite percentage of marks given under each clause. Provided that a candidate seeking admission to the first semester of B.Com. should have passed in the subject of English at the +2 exam

(B) Subject to the reservation made by the University, the admission shall be on merit. The merit for this purpose shall be determined on the basis of the score of a candidate to be computed as follows: –

(a) Percentage of marks in the qualifying examination.

(b) Add score of 4 for each of the subjects passed from the subjects referred in (i) 1(A) not exceeding 16 in total.

Regulations for B.A./B.A.(Honours) Four Years (Eight Semesters) Undergraduate Programme (Under NEP-2020)

The regulations shall cover the award of following:

The duration of B.A./B.A. (Honours) shall be of Four years (eight semesters). A student can exit at the end of 3 years (six semesters) and shall be awarded B.A. degree. A student can also exit at the end of 2 years (four semesters) shall be awarded UG Diploma. A student can also exit at the end of 1 year (two semesters) and shall be awarded UG Certificate. For obtaining UG Certificate/UG Diploma/B.A./B.A. Honours/B.A. Honours with Research Degree, a student shall qualify the number of credits as per these Regulations and Scheme framed in accordance with these Regulations.

ADMISSION TO B.A./B.A.(Hons.)/B.A (Hons. With Research) 1st year

A candidate who has passed one of the following examination:

(i) B.A./B.A.(Hons.) Part I (Old Scheme)/Pre-Medical/Pre-Engg. Intermediate Arts/Science/Agriculture examination of Panjab University;

(ii) the +2 examination under 10+2+3 system of education of a recognised University/Board/Council;

(iii) Prak/Shastri/Vishard examination with Compulsory English;

(iv) any other examination recognised by the University as equivalent to (i),(ii) or (iii) above.

For BA/BA (Hon) Following subjects are available in College:

Regulations for B.Sc./B.Sc. (Honours) Four Years (Eight Semesters) Undergraduate Programme (Under NEP-2020)

The duration of B.Sc./B.Sc. (Honours) shall be of Four years (eight semesters). A student can exit at the end of 3rd years (six semesters) and shall be awarded B.Sc. degree. A student can also exit at the end of 2nd years (four semesters) shall be awarded UG Diploma. A student can also exit at the end of 1 year (two semesters) and shall be awarded UG Certificate. For obtaining UG Certificate/UG Diploma/B.Sc./B.Sc. Honours/B.Sc. Honours with Research Degree, a student shall qualify the number of credits as per these Regulations and Scheme framed in accordance with these Regulations.

Admission to B.Sc./B. Sc.(Hons.) 1st year The basic requirement for admission to B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons.) 1st year programme is as follows:

The +2 examination of a recognised
University/Board/Council; OR any other examination recognised by the University as equivalent. Provided that –

(i) a person joining the B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons. ) course must have obtained at least 35 per cent marks in the aggregate of the qualifying examination and has studied Science subjects (A student shall take any of the following combinations of subjects) The following are the eligibility criterion for joining B.Sc. (Hons.) Courses in various Major subjects:

B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry
B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics
B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics
B.Sc. (Hons.) Botany
B.Sc. (Hons.) Zoology
B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Science

Eligibility for Admission

B.A. 3rd & 5th Semester

The candidate who is admitted in first/third/fifth semester will be allowed to be promoted to second/fourth/sixth semester respectively. However, for promotion from second to third or from fourth to fifth semester the candidate will have to clear 50% of the total papers till that semester. It is further clarified that for calculating 50% fraction, like, 2.5, 3.5 or 4.5 will be considered as 3, 4 or 5 respectively

B.Sc. 3rd & 5th Semester

Under the 10+2+3 scheme, candidates must have at least 45% in the relevant subject or 50% in aggregate.

Regarding Open School +2 Exam Pass Candidates

Candidates who have passed the +2 examination from Open School, C.B.S.E., New Delhi/National Open School, New Delhi, will be eligible for admission to B.A./B.Com. (Part I) if they have received passing certificates from the aforementioned institutions and meet the required eligibility criteria and percentage of marks. If their results are not declared in the relevant certificate column, they will be ineligible for admission.

Candidates from Other Universities and with Deficient Subjects

Students who have passed the B.A./B.Sc. Part I/II exam from another university in India can migrate to this university. They must fulfill the required subject-related conditions and pass the deficient subject(s) as indicated by the principal at the time of admission. The required and total credits will remain the same. If a student fails to pass the deficient subject(s) within the next two consecutive exams, their admission to B.A./B.Sc. Part II/III will be canceled.

After passing the third-year exam, the marks from Part I/II from the other university will be considered for the student’s grade and total marks according to university rules.

    Eligibility: 10th pass

    Required Documents: Copy of 10th pass certificate, +2 pass DMC, and Aadhar Card copy.

Note: These courses are skill-oriented and any student from B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. can opt for these courses. An additional fee of Rs 2300 per semester or as per the guidelines of PSOU must be paid, which can be paid in installments.
